Andrew V. Eisenstein
Managing Director

Andrew Eisenstein is the founder of Iron Stone Strategic Capital Partners. Since the mid-1990s he has completed over $250 million in private equity and real estate transactions in the Tri-State area. He has established a successful business model leading Iron Stone into opportunistic real estate development, special situations investing, mortgage debt acquisition, and tax certificate and tax lien investing. The Iron Stone model is a built on a solid foundation of partners and partnerships with tenants, investors, and lenders. Mr. Eisenstein has a background in general contracting and construction in high-rise buildings has built a solid track record of entrepreneurial and creative projects that rely on this specialized construction expertise. Mr. Eisenstein serves on the board of Royal Investments America a subsidiary of Royal Bank of Pennsylvania and the Germantown Board of Settlement Music School.

Throughout his career Mr. Eisenstein has taken pride in creating value not only for his investors but also for the communities he works in, by revitalizing distressed and undervalued buildings. Mr. Eisenstein graduated from the University of Pennsylvania.

Jason E. Friedland
Partner, Director of Operations and Investments

Jason Friedland has over 8 years of experience as a developer in commercial and residential real estate projects, with a focus on the acquisition, construction management, financing, zoning, historic tax credits, and portfolio and asset management. He is the co-sponsor of Falls Center, the 800,000 square foot redevelopment of MCP Hospital, one of the largest active historic redevelopment in the Northeastern United States. Since 2008, in his capacity as Director of Operations for Iron Stone Real Estate Fund II, Jason has helped negotiate and acquire more than 15 non-performing commercial mortgage liens from financial institutions.

Jason is also a partner of Friedland Capital Inc., a US-based merchant bank with offices in New York City, Denver, and Beijing. He provides corporate financial advisory services to domestic and foreign publicly traded and privately held emerging growth companies. Jason founded the financial and investment event division of Friedland Capital Inc., which sponsored over 280 events annually in 31 cities in the US and Europe.

Born in Denver, CO, Jason received a B.A from Washington University in St. Louis, MO and a Finance and Accounting Certificate from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. Jason is proficient in Spanish, jazz guitar, and a member of the Friends of Alfred Stieglitz Center. Jason spearheads Project Fair Chance, a grass roots initiative to broaden educational choices for children with hearing loss in PA.

Matthew S. Canno, Esquire
Partner, Director of Acquisitions

Matthew Canno has developed a number of commercial and residential real estate projects over the years including properties in Center City, University City, Rittenhouse Square, and South Philadelphia. As the Director of Acquisitions and General Counsel, Mr. Canno is responsible for identifying and taking advantage of new strategic opportunities. In particular, his specialties have allowed Iron stone to become one of the local leaders in purchasing non and sub-performing note instruments from banks.

In addition to his real estate expertise, Mr. Canno is a partner at the law firm of Binder & Canno, a boutique law firm specializing in real estate and litigation. He is also the co-founder of Strikes Bowling Lounge in University City, and was featured in the February 2007 edition of Philadelphia Magazine for his entrepreneurial success.

Mr. Canno specialized in Real Estate and Finance while obtaining a B.S. in Economics from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He also earned a J.D. from The University of Pennsylvania Law School and is a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association. He serves on the Board of Directors of Self, Inc. a long-standing charity in Philadelphia that oversees many of the City’s homeless shelters and initiatives for people suffering from financial and social hardships.

Gary Gordon
Director of Project Finance

Mr. Gordon's responsibilities at Iron Stone include acquisitions, financial analysis, project finance, project management and leasing. He brings eleven years of experience in real estate development and finance to Iron Stone, including positions as Director of real estate and business lending at American Street Financial Services Center; Loans and Grants manager for the New York State economic development authority; and real estate transaction specialist at a regional land conservation organization. He has also run his own residential remodeling and development business. Mr. Gordon holds a BA from Rutgers University and an MA and Ph.D. in History, with a concentration on urban economic development, from the University of Chicago.

Stephen Rickel
Chief Accounting Officer and Treasurer

Mr. Rickel is responsible for all aspects of accounting and finance for Iron Stone. He has over 15 years experience in commercial and residential real estate finance and most recently served as a senior financial officer for a commercial bank. In the past 11 years, he has held the CFO or senior financial executive position for small to medium size companies during a time of rapid, controlled growth and, in that time, developed accounting systems and controls that added real value for those organizations. Mr. Rickel is a CPA and received his B.S. in Accounting from Butler University in Indianapolis, Indiana.

David I. Goldstein
Director of Investor Relations

Mr. Goldstein has over 15 years of experience in financial services, private equity and real estate investing. In 1989 he founded Gold Star Parking, a profitable valet parking service. In 1995 he sold his interest in the company to co-found Gold Cap Properties, a real estate investment firm that successfully developed property in Northern Liberties and Center City Philadelphia. That year Mr. Goldstein joined the private wealth division at Merrill Lynch, eventually managing $225 million for high net worth families and institutions. In 1999 he moved to Lehman Brothers where he managed more than $400 million of client assets, investing in private equity vehicles and equity-based instruments. Mr. Goldstein attended St. Joseph's University, majoring in finance. He is active with the Abramson Cancer Center of the University of Pennsylvania and sits on the boards of two private companies.
